PhosphoLean® N-Oleoyl-PE + EGCG (NOPE + EGCG) is a proprietary phosphobioflavonic complex of N-oleoyl-phosphatidyl-ethanolamine (NOPE), which contains oleoyl ethanolamine (OEA) bound to phosphatidylethanolamine (PE), a naturally occurring phospholipid found in animal and vegetable foods, and epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), from standardized green tea extract.
After oral administration, PhosphoLean® NOPE + EGCG is gastro-protected in the stomach, and in the intestinal tract, OEA, a newly discovered lipid mediator involved in the regulation of feeding, is enzymatically liberated.
Recent research has shown that OEA binds to a cell receptor class called peroxisome-proliferator-activated receptor-alpha (PPAR-alpha) found in the intestinal tract. These receptors, when activated, are responsible for signaling the brain center to decrease appetite and hence to reduce both food intake and body weight gain.
